Don’t blame Akufo-Addo, Bawumia over Owusu Bempah’s arrest- Former MP

Former MP
Justice Joe Appiah

Former MP for Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Justice Joe Appiah has urged the public not to blame the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for Owusu Bempah’s arrest.

The Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International and four others, Mensah Ofori, Michael Boateng, Frederick Ohene and Nathaniel Agyekum were arrested for storming the residence of Nana Agradaa, in real life, Patricia Oduro Koranteng and threatening her.

Owusu Bempah and his ‘boys’ pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against them for threatening to kill Agradaa.

On Monday, September 13, 2021, the Pastor and his men were denied bail by a Circuit Court in Accra.

They were charged with offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace, the threat of death, and assault of office public officers.

They were remanded to police custody to reappear on Monday, September 20, 2021 to allow the police more time to carry out further investigation.

However, the Pastor fell sick at some point and was sent to the Police Hospital, after which he went back into custody.

But on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021, Lawyer Gary Nimako was able to secure a bail in the sum of GHC200,000 with two sureties for Owusu Bempah.

Despite being friends with the President, Owusu Bempah was arrested and denied bail initially when he requested for it.

He is said to have been handcuffed and carried to the hospital even when he was sick.

This made some sympathizers of the Prophet question why the Prophet, who is a friend to the President was made to go through what such ordeal.

Others also speculated that the Vice President was behind this because of a prophesy Owusu Bempah gave that he will not be President.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Eourba Gyasi Simpremu, the Former MP said, “They should leave Akufo Addo and Bawumia out this.”

He continued that, “Even if he said something, God reveals to redeem, so if he said Bawumia cannot be President again and that we should not give it to him, maybe a time will come another vision will come that Bawumia should go again. Bawumia will not sit down and say because of what Owusu Bempah has said, he will stoop that low .

Meanwhile, the Former MP alleged that the police were acting on the orders of the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
