EC logo not a priority – Expert

A political and governance expert, Dr. Fred Oduro, says changing of Electoral Commission (EC) logos should not be a priority at the moment.

The Electoral Commission led by its former Boss, Charlotte Osei, in 2016 changed the EC’s official logo, replacing it with what has been described by Ghanaians as a more ‘sophisticated’ logo.

The logo has, however, been reverted to the old one, per a memo issued by  the new EC boss, Jean Mensah.

Per the memo, all communications from the Electoral Commission must be made on the letterhead bearing the original logo of the Commission as appears on the face of this letterhead. Reams of letterheads are to be picked up from the stores of the Commission," it said.

"Kindly ensure that the most recent logo is removed from the buildings and properties of the Commission. This will subsequently be replaced. Let the bells of Accountability, Fairness and Integrity ring throughout the Commission. May God bless us all. Thank you," it concluded.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, a political and governance expert, Dr. Fred Oduro, stated that although the EC has not erred in reverting to the old EC logo, there are other pressing issues which need to be addressed at the commission which does not include the logo.

He noted that it was obvious Ghanaians were not pleased with the changed logo.                                                                                                                        According to him, Ghanaians accepted the new logo since we were left with no other option.

Meanwhile, the Chairman for the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Monah, has lauded the EC on its move.
