EC's forgery allegation surprising – Kofi Gane

Disqualified Independent Presidential aspirant, Marricke Kofi Gane, says his team would have corrected all anomalies if the Electoral Commission had consulted him.

This comes after the Electoral Commission disqualified 5 Presidential Candidates from contesting the presidential elections.

The five include Kofi Koranteng (Independent Candidate), Marricke Kofi Gane Independent Candidate), UPP’s Kofi Addai Odike (United Progressive Party) , Kwasi Busumbru (People’s Action Party) and Nana Agyenim Boateng (United Front Party).

Marricke Kofi Gane’s candidature was disqualified over fraudulent signatures of some supporters.

The commission added that it has referred the matter to the Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana Police.

Speaking to the issue on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Ekourba Gyasi, Marricke Kofi Gane, explained that EC communicated that aspirants would be contacted following discrepancies concerning their filing in time to allow them time to correct anomalies.

He added that contrary to what they were told, neither Marricke Kofi Gane’ nor any of his  team member was contacted to correct anomalies in his nomination form.

” We will reach out to the EC and find out what was wrong with our nomination and see the way forward. Before EC opened the nomination, there were soo many Ghanaians who had agreed to endorse our nominations and so we had a whole list of persons to endorse our forms and so the EC’s allegation of forged document is surprising,” he added.
