Election 2020: NDC rejects results declared by EC

The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected the results of the presidential elections announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) boss Jean Mensa.

Speaking at a press conference shortly after the EC’s declaration,  the Minority leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, noted that the NDC had their reservations about the way and manner the polls were conducted hence, and would react at the appropriate time.

“We reject the presidential elections as announced by the chair of the Electoral Commission. And we also want to serve notice that the blatant effort even to deny us of a parliamentary majority will be fiercely resisted,” Haruna Iddrisu added.

According to Haruna Iddrisu, the results of the election undermines the integrity of our electoral system and democracy and that in due course, the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, will address the country and international community with evidence.

The Electoral commission boss declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo winner of the 2020 presidential elections without results of the Techiman Constituency.

Akufo-Addo obtained a total of  6,730,413 votes of representing 51.59 % of the total vote cast.

The NDC’s candidate John Dramani Mahama obtained 6, 214, 889  representing 43.6 percent of the total vote cast.
