Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center receives National Award

Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center has been awarded at the National Honours Awards in recognition of its distinguished humanitarian services to the people of Ghana during the Covid-19 period.

Some selected Ghanaians and institutions were honoured on Tuesday, March 14 in recognition of the services offered to the growth, development, progress and prosperity of Ghana.

The ceremony was dominated by workers in the health sector and leaders who were at the forefront of Ghana’s coronavirus fight in 2020.

Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center, a member of the Tobinco Group of companies, was not left out of the awards as its contribution to the people of Ghana during the Covid-19 period was evident for all to see.

A citation which accompanied the award noted that following the call by government for local manufacturing companies to produce hand sanitizers with the assurance of an expedited regulatory approval process by the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center responded positively by producing ‘Omal hand sanitizer’.

An initiative that did not only help make hand sanitizer readily available but also at a cheaper price to meet the demand for the product in the country.

Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre is the manufacturing subsidiary of Tobinco Group, commissioned in the first quarter of 2014.

The company manufactures non-sterile preparations, including anti-malaria, ARVs and other essential medicines in line with WHO recommendations.

Pharm. Kwadwo Asare Twerefour, the Managing Director for Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Center received the award on behalf of the company.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who spoke at the event revealed that the National Honours Awards was devoid of partisan, ethnic or religious considerations.

“I, as the President of the Republic, the Fount of Honour, act as the Head of State, and not as Head of Government, in the distribution of awards. I can happily say that I am not aware of the political sympathies or views of the overwhelming majority of today’s awardees. Their politics is of no moment to me, only their exploits in favour of Mother Ghana,” Akufo-Addo said in a Facebook post.
