Feminists self-care workshop held

Developing Women for Skills and Opportunities Initiative (DWOSO) today May 24, 2024, held a highly impactful Feminists Self Care Workshop at the GDA Studio in Accra.

This event, designed for women experiencing advocacy burnout, cyberbullying, or online gender-based violence (GBV), provided a rejuvenating and supportive environment.

The workshop featured inspiring sessions led by prominent feminists such as Oheneyere Gifty Anti, author and founder of the Gifty Anti Foundation, Juliana Ama Kplorfia, Executive Director of the Girls Excellence Movement; and Bilkis Nuhu Kokroko, founder of the Muslimah Mentorship Network.

The session was well attended by Gender officers at the Ayawaso Central Municipal Assembly, young feminists, students and a host of others.

Participants engaged in a range of activities aimed at promoting well-being and self-care which included a self-reflection circle, meditation and mindfulness practices, discussions on intersectionality, strategies for self-care, and a relaxing pedicure and wine session.

The day concluded with a gratitude circle, leaving attendees feeling refreshed and empowered.

Supported by the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) and Gifty Anti Foundation, the workshop was a resounding success, providing a much-needed space for healing and community building.

The DWOSO Initiative continues to make strides in supporting women’s mental health and resilience in the face of advocacy challenges.
