Fomena: NPP party office ‘repainted’ to party colours

The Fomena New Patriotic Party (NPP) which was branded with the colours of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been repainted to NPP party colours.

Supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena constituency painted the party’s office with the colours of the NDC following a disagreement with the party executives.

On Monday, March 7, 2022, some aggrieved supporters of the NPP protested against the party’s decision not to hold polling station executive elections in the constituency.

The supporters painted the party’s office in Fomena with the colours of the NDC red, white, green, and black and also posted flyers of former President John Dramani Mahama at the office.

The Fomena NPP executives say they will resist any attempt by NPP party executives to impose Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah together with his supporters within the constituency.

The Ashanti Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has since welcomed the decision by aggrieved members to cross carpet.

Speaking to the issue on Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, a member of the Adansi NPP communications team, Emmanuel Domah revealed that that the executives of the Party had repainted the Party office to colours of the NPP.

He maintained that although the constituency will resist all attempts to impose Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah on them, branding the party office with NDC colours was out of place.

“We will resist any attempt by NPP party executives to impose the independent candidate together with his supporters on the faithful NPP supporters within the constituency. He went independent and so if he wants to come back to contest on the ticket of the party. He knows what to do,” Emmanuel Domah told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.

The deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene, who also spoke to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim also condemned the issue and called for peace to reign in the Fomena constituency.

Lawyer Obiri Boahene reiterated the sale of the party’s internal candidature forms to prevent election related issues.
