From Tamale to Trassaco: Ghanaians react to Hajia4reall’s romance scam report

Some Ghanaians have reacted to Hajia4reall’s arrest over her alleged involvement in a $2 million romance scam locally called ‘sakawa’ targeting older, single Americans.

Hajia4reall was arrested in November 2022 in the United Kingdom when she joined her fellow musicians to play a show at the Ghana Music Awards UK.

Despite her arrest, she still posted on social media from time to time to tell her fans everything was okay.

Although she had no criminal offence in the UK, Hajia was held in the UK until May 12 when she was extradited to the US.

It was reported on Monday, May 15, 2023 that Hajia has been extradited to the United States from the United Kingdom over her alleged involvement in a $2 million romance scam.

According to federal prosecutors, the 30-year-old model appeared in Manhattan federal court on Monday, May 15 for her alleged involvement in a series of romance schemes targeting older people who lived alone.

Just when the news broke that the Socialite, in real life Mona Faiz Montrage has been extradited to the United States from the United Kingdom, social media users reacted to the news, with most of the jabbing the socialite for telling people to work hard.

To some, music was a wrong choice for Hajia since it was her music career that sent her to the UK to meet her arrest.

For some, they were just tired of these young women who flaunt wealth and social media and turn in motivational speakers with a lot under their sleeves.

You may recall that two years ago, Hajia 4real in an interview with BBC said it was her hard work that has brought her to where she is with a popular quote, ‘From Tamale to Trassaco”.

Social media users also lambasted her for such motivations and have also warned those who seem to fantasize about the luxurious lifestyle of these popular girls.

Meanwhile, Hajia4Reall is set to be released on home detention to her aunt’s New Jersey residence in the coming days on a $500,000 bond with GPS tracking via an ankle monitor, her lawyer and the prosecutor’s office have confirmed.
