Galamsay fight is only a lip service – “Gov’t Lacks the will to fighting it”

Galamsay fight is only a lip service - "Gov't Lacks the will to fighting it"

When war is declared, the nation Marshall all its agile forces to zoom in to remove all obstacles, run down all impediments, and take out all the bad guys.

The situation we are confronted is deadlier than we see it now. Honestly, when someone says Ghanaians have short memories, it’s not far-fetched.

In 1983, Ghana went through a serious water crisis and a terrible food security difficulty. As a quick reminder, in the wake of the food shortage in 1983, as a result of bush fires, lots of farms were consumed, so people resorted to some crude way of fishing in the rivers by blocking and fetching out the water to get cat fish (mud fish) so lots of water bodies went dry result in serious drought in the nation. The genesis of this act emanated from supplementing the least food with some protein portion.

In all these, Ghana really suffered, so we got to the point of developing something called “Rawlings Chain ” by way of describing how boney the colar bones were revealed around our necks.

Moving forward, if we recount the happenings of old m. It should guide our thoughts to anticipate serious repercussions if the galamsay menace is not curtailed immediately!

The visuals, the audios, and all the manifestations on the galamsay phenomenon is very scary.

As a nation, if we don’t really see it as a battle in the attempt to combating the menace, we’re really heading for a doom.

Sincerely, it’s not a child’s play talking about galamsay. Looking at the turbidity of the water bodies coupled with the chemical contamination amidst the degradation of the forest, it’s very frightening. The galamsay is causing multiple environmental, social, economic, and mortality problems.

 Situation

Now, lots of farmers are too willing to trade, their arable lands for a token so they leave farming. Some others are compelled to surrender their lands because, they cannot even access their farms due to trenches dug along their routes to the farm and also others feel there’s fast cash in the galamsay other than running in and out of those forests without getting any supposed better lives. What we get today predominant our minds so the future is not in their plan of life.

With the above, the problem must be tackled beyond partisan political lines regardless of what who did before or what who’s not doing or what who is not willing to do.  It’s more about what we all are willing to sacrifice or can do arrive at or to achieve galamsey free nation to preserve future lives.

 FIGHTING

There’s a simple road map to combat he galamsey menace IF we as a nation in the hands of the president is willing to fighting this cancer, it’s the easiest way to preserve our future.

The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed forces, so all authority emanates from his doorstep.

There’s a simple road map to fighting this galamsey menace.

The core of the solution is “WILL” If the nation under the stewardship of the president is willing to stop galamsey, it’s going to be the easiest way of stopping an endemic wrong doing which is a recipe for a great difficulty in our lives in a foreseeable future.

Ghana, let’s wake up and fight the galamsey battle aggressively for our lives are endangered if don’t do it now.

Records from environmental reporters, geological reports, meteorologist, agronomist, horticulturist, physicians, and economists are all pointing to the fact that we’re endangered. Unfortunately, the only group of people who are drumming home the danger ahead are politicians. Most especially the older ones who seem to have little to lose if we mess our water bodies, farm lands and the potential of international business arrangements.

Every one of us, if we are well thinking Ghanaians, must see galamsey as a threat to life so we must fight it with all the aggression it deserves.

 CONCLUSION

Finally, I must say that, a bit of commitment, loyalty, integrity and patriotism is all we need to eradicate the menace of galamsay

A bit of you, me and all of us can stop galamsey without the justification of unemployment which makes all wrongs worth justifying because everyone can hinge on something being the motivation for doing one thing or another.  Wrong is wrong regardless of the justification. Galamsey must stop Now.
