Vice president of Akosombo Krystal Palace which is now known as Kings Palace FC, a division one team based in Akosombo, Mr. Gideon Fosu, has waded into the disqualification of George Afriyie.
The Vetting Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) cited that Afriyie’s application was unsuccessful due to his breach of “Article 13(2)(j) of the Ghana Football Association Statutes, 2019,” as well as his “failure to provide the required number of Ghana Football Association members to support your candidature.”
However, Gideon Opoku, speaking on Atinka FM , emphasized that George Afriyie’s disqualification was based a genuine mistake adding that with the caliber of George Afriyie in Ghana football, nobody ever thought he would be disqualified because of his experience when it comes to the filing his nomination forms.
He added that most football fans thought Mr. Kurt Okraku was the one behind George Afriyie’s disqualification but he(Gideon Fosu) can pinpoint clearly that all the errors made by George were genuine and he should accept it . “I am making this statement based on the report provided by the GFA vetting committee,” he said.
Gideon Fosu added that his opinion on the matter is not an endorsement of Kurt Okraku.
