The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will begin selecting their preferred senior high schools from Monday, July 20, 2026.

The school selection exercise, which forms part of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) process, will continue until Friday, August 7, 2026, giving candidates time to make their choices in line with the approved 2026 School Selection Guidelines and Placement Procedures.

In a letter dated July 6, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES said it has commenced preparations to ensure a smooth and effective implementation of the placement process.

As part of the preparations, the Service is organising a nationwide training and sensitisation exercise for Regional and Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education from Wednesday, July 15 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The exercise, which will take place at the respective Regional Education Offices, is expected to equip education officials with a better understanding of the selection guidelines and procedures to enable them to provide the needed support and oversight throughout the process.

The GES explained that the training will help officials effectively guide stakeholders, monitor the selection process and ensure that candidates and parents receive accurate information before making their school choices.

Regional Directors of Education have been directed to communicate details of the exercise to all Metro, Municipal and District Directors within their areas and ensure their full participation.

The Service is also expected to release further guidance to candidates, parents and guardians as the selection period approaches.
