GJA Media Awards Committee inaugurated


A seven-member GJA Media Awards Committee has been inaugurated to review the current awards system and give it a facelift.

The seven are expected to assess the work of those who file their nominations and help with the selection of the award winners for the incoming 26th GJA Media Awards.


The seven are Madam Yaa Oforiwaa Peasah, who is the Chairperson, Mr Vans Azu, Former Night Editor at Daily Graphic, Mr Andrew Edwin Arthur, President of  Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), Mr Kwabena Antwi Konadu, Staff of UCC and GJA Member, Mr John Vigah from the New Times Corporation, Mr Harold Roger Quartey, Head of Production UTV and Madam Lauretta Vanderpuye, Regional Director GBC, Obonu FM and TV.


They are to begin their work tomorrow, Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Speaking at the event, which was at the launch of the 26th GJA Media Awards today, Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 in Accra, the Chairperson of the Committee, Madam Yaa Oforiwaa Peasah assured the media that the committee will do its best to deliver on its mandate.
She urged all stakeholders to support the team with the necessary support to make their work a success.


“Before, there were a lot of issues with the awards, but with the introduction of the online platform, all journalists including those in the region can take part in this. We are very grateful for this opportunity. we encourage all those with vital information to support us to do the work successfully,” she said.


For his part, the Chairman for the occasion, who is a former Editor for Daily Graphic, Mr Ransford Tetteh (Nana Kweku Dei) urged journalists, including those in the regions take advantage of the awards and file their nominations online.


He also urged the executives as well as the committee in charge of the awards to ensure to keep the winners from the people so that they will be unveiled at the event.


Also speaking on the Auditor General’s Report, he urged the media to investigate the report well and get to the bottom of it before they speak about it so that they do not say something that is not entirely true.
