The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imaging to expand access to quality diagnostic healthcare services across the country.
The partnership is aimed at improving access to timely, accurate and reliable diagnostic testing, particularly for patients living with chronic conditions and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The agreement brings together the Ghana Medical Trust Fund’s mandate to support the prevention and treatment of NCDs with the diagnostic expertise of MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imaging.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery by supporting early detection of diseases, improving clinical decision-making and ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for patients.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, described the agreement as a significant milestone in the Fund’s efforts to establish strategic partnerships that improve healthcare delivery.
She said access to accurate and timely diagnostic services is essential to effective treatment and better patient outcomes.
“Today marks a significant milestone as the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, MDS Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imaging formally establish a partnership that reflects our shared commitment to improving access to quality healthcare for the people of Ghana.”
Ms. Darko-Opoku added that the collaboration represents an important investment in the health and wellbeing of Ghanaians, particularly as the country continues to confront the growing burden of non-communicable diseases.
She expressed appreciation to the leadership of the partner organisations for their confidence in the collaboration and reaffirmed the Trust Fund’s commitment to working with stakeholders to improve healthcare access.
Chief Executive Officer of MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited, Dr. Paul Sekyere-Nyantakyi, also welcomed the partnership, saying it aligns with the organisation’s mission of providing accessible and high-quality diagnostic services to support patient care.
The partnership is expected to leverage innovation, technical expertise and collaboration to address some of the challenges associated with access to diagnostic healthcare services.
Through the agreement, the partners hope to facilitate earlier diagnosis and treatment, particularly for diseases that require regular monitoring and specialised diagnostic services.
The collaboration is also expected to contribute to more effective clinical decisions by healthcare professionals, while supporting patients in accessing the services they need.
