Alex Danso, convener for Committed Drivers Union, has accused both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of not having the interests of drivers at heart.

This statement comes after prices of fuel went up at the pumps across the country effective 1stt February 2022.

It was reported that the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), in October 2021 approved the removal of the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy (PRSL) on petrol, diesel, and LPG for two months as requested by President Akufo-Addo.

According to reports, the increase is as a result of the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy (PRSL) on petrol, diesel, and LPG levy, is a key component of the fuel price build-up, which has been restored.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) suspended the levy as a means of reducing the burden on consumers.

Currently, the PSRL is 16 pesewas per litre on petrol, fourteen pesewas per litre (GHp14/Lt) on diesel and fourteen pesewas per kilogram (GHp14/Kg) on LPG.

“These politicians are all the same, both the NDC and the NPP. Who told you that the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy (PRSL) on petrol, diesel, and LPG levy was suspended? Do you know the things both governments promised and never delivered?,” Alex Danso said.

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana, (COPEC) is urging the government to withdraw the Price Stabilization and Energy Recovery levy again.
