Director of Research and Innovation at Kumasi Technical University ,Prof Smart Sarpong has justified his recent poll which puts Dr. Bawumia ahead of John Mahama in the upcoming December 7 elections with 49.1% and 45.8% respectively.
The said survey also suggests that the NPP will secure 148 seats whiles the opposition NDC is expected to grapple with 92 seats in Parliament.
This prediction has met fierce frenzy from elements within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who believe in earlier polls by Global InfoAnalytics and other agencies that have predicted a one-touch victory for their candidate, John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking to Ekow Budu Sam on Atinka FM, the venerable Prof Sarpong defended his poll by revealing that he visited over 4,200 communities across all 276 constituencies in the country and directly engaged electorates on who they would vote for.
He emphasized that a properly conducted poll should facilitate a direct engagement with citizens, just as he did,and believes in the unwavering credibility of his survey.
“I am a professor of statistics and I’m worth my salt,I know the ethics of my job and I believe in my poll. I have visited all 276 constituencies across the country and my survey is credible. Ordinarily, I’m not interested in a runoff, but as it stands now,it looks inevitable. I’ve made several predictions in the past and they were spot-on. This not the first time I’m doing this”,he assured.
