“Ignore letter sacking NABCO trainees”- Chieftaincy Minister

NABCO

Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, has debunked rumours suggesting that all beneficiaries of the Nation Builder’s Corps (NABCO) at the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs have been relieved of their duties.

This comment by the Minister comes after a letter purported to have come from the Director for Human Resource Management at the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs instructed that all beneficiaries of the Nation Builder’s Corps (NABCO) be relieved of their duties.

Mrs Dedaa Wiredu Agyei in the leaked correspondence indicated that although the NABCO programme ended in October last year, the trainees remain at post at the Ministry.

NABCO is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems.

The focus of the initiative is to solve public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection.

The letter directing that the trainees be sacked is in contrary to government’s directive for all NABCO beneficiaries to remain at post.

But in a response, the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum has asked the general public to disregard the said leaked letter.

Speaking to host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum stated that his outfit is not responsible for the appointment of the NABCO trainees neither do they have the mandate to relieve them off their duties.

“Kindly disregard the letter in circulation in the media. As the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, I have not instructed or given any directive for anyone to relieve the trainees of their duties. The said letter is not authorized and so this morning I have issued a letter asking that the unauthorized letter be disregarded,”  Ebenezer Kojo Kum told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.
