Initiate processes to remove “political judges” with your evidence – GBA to Sosu

political judges

The Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Bar Association, Saviour Kudze, has asked the Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency, Francis Xavier Sosu, to commence processes to remove “political judges” if h indeed has evidence.

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has described the comments by the Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency, Francis Xavier Sosu, as distasteful, unprofessional.

This comment comes after Sosu Sosu warned judges against being partisan along political lines.

Speaking to the media during the “Yentua Demo” on Thursday February 10, Sosu who is standing trial in court for unlawful blockade of road and destruction of public property after he led some constituents in Danfa on Monday, October 25, 2021 to demonstrate against their bad roads, said “I am begging you, if you make yourself a political judge, you will be treated as a political judge.

“What it means is that when you become partisan as judges remember that your tenure of office as a judge will run with the political party that you favour. Let that be clear because political power is very transient, positions are not possessions so people will come, people will go,” he added.

Reacting the comments of the Legislator, the GBA, said it had noted with disquiet and grave disappointment the assertion by Francis Xavier Sosu Esq. that some Judges are “political judges.”

In a rebuttal, Francis Xavier Sosu stated that the leadership’s release shows the extent to which they are politically affiliated and biased as Leaders of the Bar Association.

“Unfortunately, the leadership’s Release shows the extent to which they are politically affiliated and biased as Leaders of the Bar Association. Who in Ghana does not know that the GBA Leadership are so politically biased?. What are the core duties of the GBA?. Who in Ghana does not know that the GBA Leadership are so politically biased?. What are the core duties of the GBA?,” Sosu replied to the GBA’s statement.

Speaking to host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Bar Association, Saviour Kudze, asked Sosu to initiate the process to remove judges who are politically bias like he claims.

“I have read his statement this morning that he says he is speaking the truth; if he is speaking the truth, then I believe he has some evidence, is that not it? Then seek the processes for the removal of the judges, you are a lawyer, you are not a farmer or a carpenter somewhere,”  Saviour Kudze stated.
