The Electoral Commission has stated that ahead of the 2023 District Level Elections, Nominations will not be received in the Jasikan and Guan Districts on the 16 and 17th November, 2023 as announced for the other districts in the country where the term of office of the Assembly and Unit Committee Members expires on the 17th of December, 2023.
According to the EC, this is because the C.I. 119 (to be Amended) which has been laid in Parliament will not mature before the date announced for the Receipt of Nominations.
Earlier, the EC announced that following the expiration of the term of the Assembly and Unit Committee Members on the 17th of December, 2023, it has set December 19, 2023 as the date for the District Level Elections.
It noted that Nomination Forms may be obtained free of charge at the District Offices of the Commission across the country or on the Website of the Electoral Commission (www.ec.gov.gh).

The EC directed that completed Nomination Forms must be delivered in quadruplicate by the Candidate or the Proposer or Seconder together with two copies of a recent post-card bust sized photographs to the Returning Officer of the Electoral Area for which the Candidate seeks election, from the 16th to 17th November, 2023 between the hours of 9:00 o’clock in the morning to 12.00 noon and 2:00 o’clock to five o’clock in the evening on each day.
“Nominations for the District Assembly Elections shall be witnessed by the signature or mark of the Proposer and the Seconder and supported by eighteen (18) other persons who are residents and registered voters in the Electoral Area,” EC stated.
It continued,”Nominations for the Unit Committee Elections shall be witnessed by the signature or mark of the Proposer and the Seconder and supported by eight (8) other persons who are residents and registered voters in the Electoral Area.”
In a statement signed by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Michael Boadu, the EC stated that the C.I. 119 is expected to mature before the District Level Elections on the 19th of December, 2023.
It noted that it will announce a date for the Receipt of Nominations for the Jasikan and Guan Districts once the C.I. matures.
Meanwhile the Commission assured voters in the Jasikan and Guan Districts that the District Level Elections for the two Districts will be held before the end of year.
