Korley Klottey MP introduces flood detection app

Member of Parliament for Korley Klottey, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has introduced an application to detect flood in her constituency.

The mobile application which was partnered by Vodacom Business Ghana and the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) of the University of Ghana is aimed at monitoring weather conditions and warning users of impending dangers including floods.

Speaking to Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, MP for Korley Klottey, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, mentioned that the “Ghana Flood Monitoring System” app will offer regular weather forecasts to users.

According to the law maker, the app will also offer tips on the safest place to head to during floods as well as give users emergency contacts to reach out in terms of disasters. She intimated that some churches, schools and individuals have supported the flood monitoring system by offering their premises as safe havens.

She mentioned Ghana Police, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Meteorological Services Department, National Fire Service, Hydrological Services Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the 48 Engineers Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces as partners in the establishment of the app.

She called on the general public to download the “Ghana Flood Monitoring System” app to ensure that individuals are safe especially during disasters.
