Kumasi: Fire kills mother and two children

A fire outbreak has killed a mother and her two children at Asuoyeboah in the Ashanti Region.

The fire which occurred around 12:30 am Tuesday dawn, claimed the lives of the three in their home at Asuoyeboah also left one person injured.

The deceased have been identified as Felicia, 48, Obed Owusu, 11, and Christabel Owusu, 9.

Speaking to Atinka News, an eyewitness, Edward Osei, said they thought the rain would minimize the impact of the fire adding that they were shocked the entire 10-bedroom apartment was engulfed with fire and all effort to try and save them proved futile.

“They all got trapped and couldn’t come through the window because of the burglar proof. However, the man of the house managed to escape because he was in a separate room. He decided to go back and rescue his family but to no avail. He later sustained some severe burns and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment,” he told Atinka News.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the KATH morgue.

This brings to three, the number of domestic fire outbreaks in the Ashanti Region.

On Tuesday, August 16 2022, a pregnant woman and her two sons were burnt to death in their 3-bedroom apartment in Ohwim.

A 74-year-old former director of Audit Service in his was also burnt to death in his 5-bedroom house on Saturday, September 10.
