KyireAbosom congratulates Akufo-Addo

Founder and flagbearer for the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) party has  called President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to congratulate him.

This was disclosed by the The Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin in a Facebook post.

Osofo KyireAbosom joins the likes of  presidential candidate of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Henry Herbert Lartey and Percyval Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana  (LPG) who have reportedly also conceded defeat and called to congratulate the NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“The Presidential candidate of the GCPP, Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey, has just called President Akufo-Addo to concede defeat and congratulate him on his victory in the presidential election,” Eugene Arhin said in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Brigitte Dzogbenuku, the Presidential Candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), says it’s too early to pour in congratulatory messages to any candidate.

According to Brigitte Dzogbenuku, the congratulatory messages has the tendency to promote instability in the country.

“In this regard, premature congratulations are out of order, particularly at this time when the election is too close to call. Let us desist from this practice. It has the tendency to promote instability in our dear nation,” the PPP candidate said in a statement.

The Electoral commission is yet to declare the official results of the Presidential elections but the two main political parties, New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NPP), are both claiming to have won the elections.
