Madina MP’s job center Partners NYA to tackle youth unemployment

The Madina Job Center (MJC), a platform of the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis Xavier-Sosu, is taking a bold step to address youth unemployment by exploring a partnership with the National Youth Authority (NYA).

The collaboration aims to expand skills training, promote entrepreneurship, and create job opportunities for young people, aligning with national development priorities.

In Ghana, Youth Unemployment remains significant, affecting almost half of the young workforce. The lack of skills, job openings, and startup capital continues to hinder moves to address this challenge.

Recognizing this, MJC and NYA are working to equip young people with relevant skills for today’s job market, ensuring they are not just trained but job-ready.

Their efforts align with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including poverty reduction (SDG 1), quality education (SDG 4), and decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).

Beyond training, the partnership will prioritize entrepreneurship support.

Many young Ghanaians have innovative business ideas but lack the resources to turn them into reality. By providing funding, mentorship, and business development training, this initiative aims to transform young entrepreneurs into job creators.

Job placement will also be a major focus, ensuring that trained youth have clear pathways into employment. Many young people struggle to find jobs, not due to a lack of skills but because of limited networks and opportunities. Strengthening these employment pathways will be key to the success of this initiative.

With Ghana’s youth making up nearly 38% of the population, ensuring they have access to sustainable job opportunities is essential for the country’s economic future.

MJC, with its ambitious goal of creating 1,000+ jobs in 2025, is making a strong case for youth employment as a national priority.

As discussions continue, one thing is clear: the future of Ghana’s workforce depends on bold, strategic action today and this is what the MP for Madina, Francis Xavier-Sosu stands for.
