Mahama promises NABCO staff permanent jobs

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has assured beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) of permanent jobs if he wins power.

Speaking to private businessmen in Accra ahead of the December 7 polls, the former President and flagbearer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama said the next NDC administration will see to it that graduates are given permanent jobs.

According to Mahama, a thorough Human Resource Gap (HR Gap) study into the public sector suggests that there is more room for graduate employment in the public sector.

“This explains why we have conducted a thorough Human Resource Gap (HR Gap) study into the public sector. The analysis shows there is more room for graduate employment in the public sector as well. The Ghana Health Service has a human resource gap of 76,795.“The Ghana Education Service has a gap of 98,650 and altogether, the security services – Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prison Service, Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed Forces – have over 100,000 job vacancies.

He noted that NaBCo and the youth in temporary employment within the public sector and graduates can be assured of permanent employment based on the Human Resource Gap Analysis conducted by the NDC..

Background

President Akufo-Addo on 1st May, 1, 2018 launched the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), a programme structured to tackle graduate unemployment in Ghana.

The programme is designed under seven modules. The Feed Ghana module where the graduates will serve as agric extension officers to help our farmers.

Educate Ghana module where graduates will teach science and mathematics in High schools.

The Revenue Ghana module will take graduates into the Ghana Revenue Authority to help in the collection of revenue.

Heal Ghana module where nurses who have been sitting home without jobs after school will be employed.

The Enterprise Ghana module where graduates will be assigned to various private sector enterprises for jobs and skills training as well as development.

The Digitize Ghana module will see graduates being sent to the IT sector for the Digital Ghana agenda, the transformation agenda, where they will be attached to the NIA or to the Ghana Post or to the Birth and Death Registry or to the Land Registry.

Then the Governance Ghana module where graduates will be attached to various local authorities.
