Man jailed six months for stealing GHC80 worth of cashew nuts at Wenchi 

 

The Wenchi Magistrate Court presided over by Her Worship, Vivian Yamusa, has sentenced a 35- year-old farm labourer, Kayele Keubo, alias Olluman, for stealing cashew nuts at Ntwieso near Droboso in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region.

Presenting the facts of the case in court, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector John Atikpo said on the 10th February, 2018 at about 9:00am, the complainant, Alamusu Yaw, a 66- year -old farmer at Ntwieso visited his cashew farm at Ntwieso only to find the suspect stealing the nuts.

He subsequently raised an alarm and Kayele, who had managed to steal ten (10) kilograms of cashew nuts worth GH₵80.00, was arrested.

Kayele admitted to the offence of stealing and pleaded for leniency, but Alamusa ignored his plea.  The suspect was eventually arraigned before court for stealing.

Kayele pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six (6) months imprisonment with hard labour on his own plea.
