Man,36, busted with 228 parcels of Indian Hemp

The Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect, Haruna Iddrisu, 36, for possessing Narcotic Drugs without lawful Permit. 

On the 23rd November, 2021 , Regional Police gathered that a drug transporting syndicate who have been on the Police wanted list have managed to transport to Accra some substance suspected  to be Indian hemp and have hidden the substances at a secret location. 

Surveillance was immediately mounted on their movements and the suspect Haruna Iddrisu was identified as the main distributor. 

The police trailed suspect  Haruna Iddrisu and succeeded in arresting him at his hideout in Gbetsele, near Ashaiman, together with 228 slabs of dried leaves all suspected to be Indian Hemp. 

Briefing the Press  on the operation in Accra today, 23rd Nov, 2020,   the Greater Accra Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Iddi Lansah Seidu, said investigations into the matter is ongoing, adding, “further updates will be communicated”. 

According to the suspect, the situation of his mother who is critically sick at the hospital, forced him into the drug business.

The Suspect, Haruna Iddrisu, said, he received the products from the Volta region and his role is only to distribute. 

DCOP Iddi Lansah Seidu warned all Criminals to “immediately cease their nefarious activities because the Police is poised to come after them”. 

He also encouraged the Public to be vigilant and report Suspicious characters or activities to the Police.
