Missing Children @1: Kufuor calls on public to report stranded, distressed kids

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on the general public to report children who appear stranded and distressed to the appropriate quarters.

John Agyekum Kufuor made this appeal in the one-year anniversary edition of the Missing Children Documentary Series by Atinka TV’s Regina Asamoah.

In the documentary, Regina Asamoah recounts her motivation to investigate the issue of missing children and the gaps identified in Ghana’s child protection system, outline her challenges, and suggest ways to reduce the spate at which children go missing.

The Missing Children documentary is an investigative documentary series by the GJA Female Best Journalist.

The documentary series focuses on finding and reuniting missing children across the country. It also promotes the well-being of children by helping them grow in families, not institutions.

Since May 2021, the ‘Missing Children’ Documentaries have so far reunited over 170 missing children and still counting.

The former president, John Agyekum Kufuor , who featured in the one-year anniversary edition of the Missing Children Documentary, encouraged the Social Welfare Department and the producers of the documentary to continue their good work.

Kufour bemoaned the recurrent reports of missing children in Ghana, adding that one cannot fathom whether or not such missing persons have been abducted or otherwise.

“I am here appealing to the police and the society generally that anywhere they see a suspicious situation of some child in distress or in the wrong company, they should report the situation quickly so such people in distress can be given relief and restored back home,” Kufuor added.
