NADMO: We need 'powers' to pull down structures at disaster-prone areas

The National Coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Agyemang Prempeh, says the organization is handicapped due to lack of legislative Instrument to enable them to demolish structures sited at disaster-prone areas.

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has disclosed plans to get rid of unauthorized structures ahead of the rains to avert any possible national disaster.

Speaking to Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Agyemang Prempeh stated NADMO is actively involved in preventive measures since the organization is still waiting for legislative instruments that will authorize it to demolish structures in disaster-prone areas.

According to him, NADMO will continue to sensitize the general public to desist from acquiring properties and building in areas prone to disaster.
