Member of Parliament for the Kunbugu Constituency, Ras Mubarak is apprehensive of losing their party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to what he describes as the butt of public jokes if every Tom, Dick & Harry is allowed to pick up forms to contest the party’s flagbearership position.
The NDC is preparing to wrestle power from the ruling NPP and has so far organized Regional and Constituency elections to have leaders who will steer the affairs of the party these levels.
Meanwhile, the most important position, the flagbearership, which is yet to be contested has seen more than ten stalwarts including former President Mahama, Alban Osman Babgin, Sylvester Mensah, and Prof. Joshua Nii Alabi declaring their intentions to contest.
Latest to join the race is former KMA boss, Kojo Bonsu. But the Kunbugu MP on his Facebook page believes that to become a flagbearer of NDC party, one ought to be “solid”.
Taking to his Facebook account, he thinks the race has been reduced to “ordinary” men and therefore calls for serious reforms to be carried out in their constitution.
Below is the statement he wrote on Facebook:
“Until the NDC makes serious reforms in our constitution, we would reduce our great party to the butt of public jokes if every Tom, Dick & Harry is allowed to pick up forms to contest to be the party's Presidential candidate.”
