Students of the Nzema Nkwanta Junior High School (JHS), located in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, are enduring harsh conditions as they are forced to learn in an uncompleted building.

The structure, which lacks windows and doors, offers no protection from the weather or surrounding environment.

Students told Atinka News that the building becomes uninhabitable whenever it rains, forcing classes to end abruptly. During sunny days, the heat is often unbearable, making concentration difficult.

The open nature of the facility has also exposed pupils to potential danger from reptiles and stray domestic animals that often wander into classrooms.

Mr. Waaki Kojo Romanus, headmaster of Nzema Nkwanta JHS, explained that the situation deteriorated after an initial attempt to improve infrastructure stalled.

According to him, the school was previously housed in a wooden structure that, although basic, was more functional. A new building project began under the tenure of a former Member of Parliament, but following a change in political leadership, construction was abandoned.

Nzema Nkwanta JHS is one of the oldest schools in the municipality, and stakeholders are now calling on authorities to urgently address the infrastructural challenges to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for the students.
