Sons of Bacchus (SOB), a group made up of past students of Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon have donated items worth over GH¢5000 to the inmates of the Pantang Hospital in Adenta, Accra.
The items included bags of rice, ideal milk, sugar, gallons of oil, toilet rolls, bars of soaps, detergents, bags of sachet water, tins of fish among others.
Presenting the items, the leader of the group Kwabena Boye Adjekumhene, told management of the hospital that men who really passed through the great Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana and imbibed the values of the great hall always consider the needs of others in addition to upholding truth in their lives.
Receiving the items, management of the Pantang Mental Hospital, Mr. Boakye, Secretary of the Pantang hospital expressed deep and sincere gratitude to members of Sons of Bacchus and charged other well-meaning Ghanaians to emulate the attributes of the past students of Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana.
The Hospital management praised the VANDALS and urged them to continue to demonstrate their humane support to fellow human beings.
They added that the items donated by the sons of Bacchus who are old VANDALS will go a long way to put smiles on the faces of the inmates of the Pantang Mental Hospital.
Members of the Sons of Bacchus who believe in giving back to society and helping one another to improve the lives of humanity also engaged in over one hour of cleaning activities at the mental hospital to give the inmates a hygienic and healthy environment to inhabit.
The Members of Sons of Bacchus who epitomize the true tenets of VANDALISM which is an accolade attributed to every past student of the only male hall of the University of Ghana, say a true gentleman thinks of his environment, society and the well-being every human being. Thus their motivation to support the inmates of the country's biggest mental hospital.
Ghana's mental health facilities have been reported to be in very terrible state. With poor conditions and low budgetary allocations, most of the nation's mental health facilities have been in dire need for assistance for some time now.
Mr. Adjei, the Environmental Manager of the Pantang Hospital, also expressed joy over the clean-up exercise undertaken by the Sons of Bacchus, saying it has provided a healthy environment for the inmates and management of the hospital.
