The State has signalled plans to revise the charge sheet in the corruption trial of former National Service Authority Director Osei Assibey Antwi, as proceedings continue.
He is standing trial on accusations that he authorised the disbursement of GH¢500,861,744.02 in allowances to tens of thousands of ghost national service personnel and diverted GH¢106 million from the Authority’s Kumawu Farm Project for private use.
Mr Assibey Antwi has entered a not-guilty plea to 14 counts, including stealing, money laundering and causing financial loss.
Prosecutors told the court on Tuesday, February 17, that findings from a performance audit of the National Service Authority, submitted to the Attorney-General, had led to the decision to amend the existing charge sheet. They therefore applied for a short adjournment to effect the changes.
The trial of former NSA Director Osei Assibey Antwi has been postponed to February 25 to permit the prosecution to revise the charges and for the accused to re-enter his plea.
He was earlier granted GH¢800 million bail on October 30, under the condition of six sureties backed by land, as ordered by Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie.
After failing to meet the initial bail conditions, the former NSA Director’s legal team applied for a review. The court subsequently lowered his bail in December 2025 to GH¢120 million with two sureties, from a prior reduced bail of GH¢630 million.
