Photos: Drone helps Tema Police arrest 15 suspected drug peddlers 

 

The Tema Regional Police Command has rounded up 15 suspected drug peddlers on Wednesday.

The two-hour operation led by the Regional Operation Commander, DSP Martin Ininga Ntelabi at Communities nine and One, Sites 2 and 5 was based on Intelligence gathered from the footages of the drone which was launched by the Command last week Wednesday. 

Items retrieved included, “two and a half sacks, 2 slabs, 1 basin, half drum and 2 boxes of dried leaves” all suspected to be Indian hemp. Others are 2 bottles of local Gin laced with Indian hemp, five pairs of scissors used in cutting the rolling paper, three packs of rolling paper, electronic home appliances, 4 gas cylinders, 4 shovels, 2 laptops and assorted mobile phones all suspected to be stolen items.

The Regional Commander, DCOP Nana Asomah Hinneh briefing the press at the Regional Headquarters, said the Command will continue to use the drone in such intelligence-led operations on regular basis. He called on the public to volunteer timely information to assist police fight crime in the metropolis.

Suspects are presently in custody undergoing screening and investigations, after which those found culpable will be charged with the various offenses committed and arraigned before the law court. 

Meanwhile, the suspected dried leaves have been forwarded to the Crime Forensic Laboratory for examination.
