The Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 impounded about 100 motorbikes from riders that plied the Achimota-Accra route.

These motorbikes included personal motorbikes, those who were en-route to deliver items and those who also used it for Okada purposes.

The operation according to the police followed a directive from their superiors to impound all motorbikes and check their documents after an earlier robbery attack at Apenkwa, on the Achimota-Accra road.

For those who had original documents, including license, proper registration, road tax and insurance, the police released the motorbikes after a thorough check, one after the other.

But for those who did not have their documents intact, they were left to their fate at the Tesano police.

Despite carrying food, the police did not spare the recognised dispatch riders, they also had to present their documents before they were allowed to go.

One rider, who spoke to a Atinkaonline.com’s reporter at the Tesano Police Station said,” Someone ordered for food, I picked it up in the morning and the food is still in my carrier. I now have to send the food to the office because it might have gone bad.”
This was after 5 p.m. when his motorbike was released after being held since morning.

Meanwhile, the police is still investigating the robbery case and is yet to identify the armed robbers who allegedly took GHC29,000 from a victim at Apenkwa.
