Priority Insurance  supports 30 female footballers with skills training

On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024, thirty female footballers from Berry Ladies FC were given vocational skills training by Ghana’s insurance giant, Priority Insurance Company Limited.

The training involved the preparation of brown sugar, afterwash, liquid detergent, bar soap, bleach, and floor cleaners.

Priority Insurance not only utilized the event as a means of expressing affection and solidarity but also incorporated it into its preeminent initiative, which aims to foster and facilitate the development of technical and entrepreneurial proficiencies among young and female footballers nationwide. Additionally, it aims to mitigate the nation’s alarming adolescent unemployment rate.

Speaking to Atinka Sports, the Managing Director of Priority Insurance, Mr. Matthew K. Aidoo said  “Even though we are the pacesetters in the industry, we do many things which our competitors are emulating.  We decided to Break Barriers not to do the normal Valentine’s Day programs but rather to impact skills onto Berry Ladies Football Club, so they can also get some money apart from playing football.

“We are here to support and guide people who are willing to learn to be prominent people in life hence our support to Berry ladies. For now, we have started with Berry Ladies and focusing on ladies, but we also have more programs for the men as well and hoping to extend to all angles from time to time,” he added.

Head of Corporate Relations, Mrs. Abena Agyakoma Nketia Sarpong, said, “Some footballers retire prematurely through injuries and since we at Priority Insurance believe female footballers can acquire skills through their hands and benefit after their football career”.

According to her, as part of Priority’s  Corporate  Social Responsibility, it decided not to do the normal “show your love” programs on Valentine’s Day but show love to Berry Ladies to survive in our economy in the future.

“This year priority Insurance Company Limited has insured the Referees Association of Ghana RAG, through the Ghana Football Association,” she added.
