Prophet Nigel Gaisie Clarifies Comments on Ghana’s World Cup Prospects

Founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has clarified recent remarks about Ghana’s chances at the FIFA World Cup, insisting he did not predict that the Black Stars would reach the final match of the tournament.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwasi Afriyie on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana on Monday, January 5, 2026, the outspoken cleric explained that his comments had been misunderstood and taken out of context.

“Ghana will do well at the finals,” Prophet Gaisie stated.

However, when the host suggested that the comment could be interpreted as Ghana reaching the World Cup final, he firmly rejected that view. He explained that in football terminology, “the finals” refers to the World Cup tournament itself, not the championship match.

“I didn’t say Ghana will do well at the final finals of the World Cup,” he said. “So, if you qualify to the World Cup, it’s called the finals. Unless you tell me it is otherwise.”

According to Prophet Gaisie, his wording was intentional and distinct from how such statements are usually framed.

“The regular person will say, Ghana has gone to the World Cup and Ghana will do well,” he explained. “But I did not say it that way. I said Ghana at the finals will do well. That’s what I mean.”

While acknowledging that reaching the World Cup final would be historic for Ghana, he stressed that this was not what he was predicting.

“I didn’t say the final or the final of the World Cup,” he added. “I pray we should get there. I pray we should get there. But that wasn’t what I was saying.”

His clarification follows intense debate on social media, where some users interpreted his earlier comments as a prophecy that Ghana would reach the ultimate stage of the tournament.

Beyond football, Prophet Gaisie also shared his outlook for the country in the year ahead, describing it as positive while calling for heightened vigilance from security agencies.

“What I’ve seen is that the national security should tighten the security of Ghana and also tighten security around our president,” he said, adding that “the year will be a super good year.”
