Rawlings apologises for describing Mahama, Kufuor  as 'rogue' and 'evil'

Former President, Jerry John  Rawlings, has apologised for using harsh words against his fellow statesmen, John Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama.

Mr. Rawlings said if going to Heaven meant sharing the place with former President John Mahama and John Kufuor, then he is better off and happy going to hell.

The former President  made the harsh comments against the two Former Presidents when he received a delegation from the Volta Region.

According to the Former military ruler, former President Kufuor is ‘evil’ while former President Mahama, a ‘rogue’; and they both destroyed the country, adding that he will gladly join Satan in hell should they (Mahama and Kufuor) make heaven.

However, the former president has retracted the demeaning comments against his two colleagues in a statement issued Monday.

“The office of former President Jerry John Rawlings wishes to inform the general public that the former President has taken due note of concerns raised over certain publications arising out of a meeting he held with a delegation of chiefs and elders from Mepe in the Volta Region last Tuesday,” the statement said.

“The former President apologizes to former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama for the choice of words. He deems the words as inappropriate and withdraws them.”
