Sam George rejected over proposal to be part of protest

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Samuel Nartey George, has been rejected by some aggrieved residents of Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram District over his proposal to be part of a protest.
The residents had earlier embarked on a demonstration over the poor nature of their roads, raising concerns over how they had been neglected by successive governments over the development of the area.
While they took to the streets to protest on Friday, the residents burnt lorry tyres and blocked the road with wood and metal containers to register their displeasure.
It was after the demonstration that Sam George proposed to join the residents in the next protest after the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum given to government to fix the deplorable roads.
Speaking to Citi Fm on Friday, Mr. George disclosed that “in two weeks’ time, I will join the members of my constituency, because Parliament is on recess and I have exhausted all my parliamentary options.
“That road has transcended the government from the NDC to the NPP. That road has been in a state of disrepair for over 20 years.”
Meanwhile, the organiser of the demonstration, John Charway told Daily Guide via telephone that, “we don’t need our MP to join us when the 14 days expires and we don’t see that contractor has resumed work on the road. This is because we don’t want to politicise the demonstration because if today the MP is joining us to do the demonstration then tomorrow the DCE would also decide to join us and we will politicise our protest.”
“We only want to send a message to the government to ensure that the road is fixed and no politics attached. There are other pressing issues that the MP can channel his energy into than joining us.
