Socialist Forum Ghana to mark 52nd anniversary of Ghana’s Day of shame

 

Socialist Forum Ghana will on Friday, 23rd, 2018 observe the 52nd anniversary of the overthrow of Nkrumah’s government.

The celebration which is on theme “Ghana’s day of shame; impact of the 1966 coup on the struggle for Africa independence” will be held at Freedom Center in Accra.                 

In a statement signed by the Convener Kwesi Pratt Jnr, he recounted happenings that led to the 1966 coup and urged all progressive forces to join in the battle for the repossession of national resources.

“As we mark 52 years after the dastardly over throw of the Nkrumah Government, we cannot fail to draw attention to the fact that Ghana acted as the lightning rod for the liberation movement in Africa and contributed significantly to the acceleration of the independence movement across the world” the statement said.

The forum will be chaired by Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana and Member of the Council of State, Professor Akilagpa Sawyerr, with retired trade unionist, diplomat and author Comrade Charles Heymann, as the main discussant.
