Stonebwoy erred by pulling gun in public– Dep. Defence Minister

Deputy Minister of Defence, Major (Rtd) Derek Oduro, has described  the brawl at the 20th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA’s) as unfortunate.
Dancehall Artiste, Stonebwoy, born Livingston Satekla allegedly pulled a gun at the Vodafone Ghana Music Award’s after being attacked by Shatta Wale.
Stonebwoy was reportedly called to receive an award for the best Reggae/Dancehall artiste of the year for the fifth time running.
Reports gathered at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) indicates that Shatta Wale who was furious over the award angrily decided to climb the stage despite restrains from security at the venue.
Stonebwoy in a video pulled a gun in the midst of the scuffle.

Addressing insecurity and indiscriminate use of firearms in an interview with Kaakyire Ofori Ayim on Atinka AM Drive, Deputy Minister of Defence Major (Rtd) Derek Oduro, explained that the exposure of firearms at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on the part of Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy.
Major (Rtd) Derek Oduro explained that the situation at the VGMA’s did not call for the use of guns or any other weapon.
“This should also serve as a clarion call for those who issue license for the use of firearms. There should be a strict selection as to who deserves to use a gun and who does not. Individuals who have the license to use guns are cautioned by the state agencies not to use the guns in public places like Stonebwoy did…this could have led to  deaths”, he added.
He asked organizers of  events to employ due diligence in their works and leave the security aspect of the whole events into the hands of the security service to ensure  the safety of people who patronize events.
Meanwhile,  Stonebwoy  has rendered an unreserved apology to Ghanaians for his conduct at the just ended 20th VGMA’s.
