The Supreme Court has ordered the Electoral Commission (EC) to suspend all activities toward the planned Kpandai parliamentary rerun until it delivers a final ruling on the matter.
The directive places all EC preparations on hold as the court considers legal issues arising from disputes over the parliamentary election. When the case was heard on Tuesday, proceedings were adjourned to January 13, 2026.
The rerun has been the subject of legal challenges, prompting the court’s intervention. Until a final decision is made, the EC is barred from organising or conducting the election.
The ruling is expected to affect the electoral timeline in the Kpandai constituency as stakeholders await the court’s determination early next year.
