A senior police officer attached to the Tema Regional Police Command, DSP Devine Assiam, has committed suicide in a bizarre circumstances at his residence at Adjei Kojo, a surburb of Tema on Sunday morning.
The deceased who was with the Tema Courts Units at Borteyman is said to have shot himself under his chin with a pistol, leaving behind a suicide note with the inscription “I AM FED UP IN LIFE”
Reports indicate that, the deceased was found alive by officers who were dispatched to the scene, with gunshot wounds around his left eye and under his chin which they suspected to be self-inlficted.
He, however, died shortly after being rushed to the Police Hospital were he was seeking treatment at the emergency room.
Police say officers managed to retrieve a blood stained Pietro Beretta Pistol with four unused live rounds of ammunition and a suicide note from the scene.
The body of the deceased officer has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue whiles investigations are underway.
