Tema Area Church Of Pentecost launches "Agent of Peace Campaign"

The Tema Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mathew Larbi Wettey, has charged politicians to desist from their hypocritical lifestyle of going contrary to what they preach.

He said if the 2020 elections will be peaceful, politicians have a greater share in making it possible.

He made the remarks during the launch of the Tema Area’s version of the “Agent of Peace Campaign.”

The launch of the Church’s of version of the Agent of Peace Campaign at the Robert Aquah Memorial Sanctuary in the Tema Central Constituency, was preceded with a float by pastors and members of the church throughout the community 4 vicinity.

Special prayers were later held by the congregation for a peaceful December elections.

Dignitaries who mounted the podium also preached about the need to maintain peace ahead and after the elections.

Speaking on the theme, ” Seek Peace and Pursue It”, the Tema Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mathew Larbi Wettey, said the campaign was to enlighten politicians and the public on the responsibility bestowed on them to protect the country’s interest at all time. He advised politicians not to forget they belong to religious groups, and must act as agents of peace.

The NPP 2020 Parliamentary Candidate for the Tema Central Constituency, Yves Nii Noi Hanson, said most political violence are caused by discrimination in the share of national cake, and believes Christians had a major role to play in demanding for good leadership. He urged Christians not to shun away from taking part in elections or political activities, since it is their constitutional right.

The NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Ebi Bright, who suffered some suspected political attack on her property prior to the programme, stressed on the need for victims of such cases, not to hurriedly link them to political attacks. She also called for politicians to do more in safeguarding the peace of the country. 

The Agent of Peace Campaign, an initiative of the Church of Pentecost, is being replicated at the Regional, District and area levels of the Church to promote peace before, during and after the 2020 December polls.
