Tobinco boss to pay $18,000 for woman to get kidney transplant in India

The Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Nana Amo Tobbin I has promised to support a woman with kidney disease with over $18,000 to have a transplant in India.

He made the promise when the lady who has been battling with kidney disease for sometime went to seek help at his church on Sunday.

The Tobinco boss is known for offering help to persons who are in need, pays their medical bills, and supports them financially depending on their problems.

After Sunday’s church service at the Thomas Wyatt Assembly of the Church of Pentecost, about 100 persons lined up to seek help from Elder Nana Amo Tobbin I.

According to the kidney patient, she needed 40,000 dollars to get a kidney transplant at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital or $18,000 at a hospital in India and initially, she resorted to the public for help.

When her plight was aired on Atinka TV, the Tobinco Boss pledged to support the patient with 10,000 Dollars as a top up of what the public will contribute towards her surgery.

However, after some time, the patient said she did not get enough support from the public, explaining that the money she had was used for weekly dialysis and medication.

In a latest development, the Tobinco boss promised to cater for the entire cost of the surgery.

Right at the church, he gave money to the family of the woman to get a passport for four, and asked them to get the cost of ticket for four.
Aside from the total cost of the surgery, she will need to go with a caretaker, a donor and the donor’s caretaker.

Although most of those who went to seek support had compelling stories, others were very critical. One young man had surgery on his spine and needed to do another one which will cost him about 15,000 dollars.

Another Man also had an issue with his intestine and needed GHC15,000.

One touching story was that of a person with disability who had managed to put up a container and needed money to buy phone accessories.

Right at the church, the Tobinco boss supported him with an amount of GHC4,000 to get the items.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Zionfelix, the Tobinco Boss revealed that approximately, he spends over 200,000 every first Sunday of the Month on persons who are in need, both church members and outsiders.
