On Valentine’s Day, the Ghana HIV and Aids Network (GHANet), a Ghanaian non-governmental organization (NGO), organized a public sensitization programme on HIV/Aids at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Burma camp, Mallam junction, and other places in the metropolis.
The idea was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of safe sex practices and HIV prevention amongst the youth, especially on a Valentine’s day where they have sexualised it, a situation that has contributed to the increase of HIV infections in the country.
During the programme, GHANet distributed condoms to the public, emphasizing the need for protection against HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The organization also provided education on the risks associated with unprotected sex and the benefits of regular HIV testing.
