Video: Another explosion hits Kumasi

Reports reaching Atinkaonline.com indicates that another explosion has hit Kaase in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

This is barely 24 hours after a huge explosion hit Apiate in the Western Region.

It is unclear what caused the explosion.

Although no death has been recorded, some properties have been affected.

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has assured that Government will spare no effort to ensure a rapid return to a situation of normalcy for residents of Apiate.

This was after an explosion hit the people of Apiate, a town between Bogoso and Bawdie in the Western Region.

According to the police, a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.

As a result of the explosion, scores of people feared dead.

It was also indicated that many residents at Bogoso sustained serious degrees of injuries.

It is unclear the exact number of people who are dead, but it is speculated that more than 20 persons have died.

Giving an update, the Police said it has taken charge of the situation and was providing security to enable the emergency workers including the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO and the Ambulance Service manage the situation.

In a statement, the President said,”I have just received a briefing on the circumstances that led to an explosion in Apiate near Bogoso, in the Western Region, resulting in the loss of lives and the destruction of properties belonging to residents. It is a truly sad, unfortunate and tragic incident, and I extend, on behalf of Government, deep condolences to the families of the deceased, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

He confirmed that the Police, Armed Forces and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are co-ordinating efforts to contain the situation, adding that he has also instructed NADMO to see to it that rapid relief is brought to residents of the town.

“Government will spare no effort to ensure a rapid return to a situation of normalcy for residents of Apiate,” he said.
