We Lost Loved Ones Over Woyome Case – Former MP Breaks Silence

Former Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Kobla Mensah Woyome, has revealed that his family lost several loved ones, including their mother, due to the emotional toll of the judgment debt case involving his elder brother, Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

Speaking in an emotional interview on Atinka FM’s Legend Sports show with Justice Adusi-Poku, Hon. Woyome said the case not only painted their family in a negative light but also brought deep pain that lingered for years.

“We lost our mother in February 2017. It was very painful. This is a woman who cared so much, but every day she cried because of the things she heard. There was no day the old lady was happy,” he said. “Sometimes the grandchildren would come home from school and tell her they were being called names.”

Hon. Woyome, who served as MP from 2005 to 2021, noted that the family’s suffering extended beyond public perception.

“We’ve lived through it. Even though we lost loved ones out of the pain and all that, we’ve kept going. We leave everything in the hands of God. He will vindicate,” – he added.

When asked about the family’s relationship with outspoken politician Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, who publicly criticized Alfred Woyome during the controversial judgment debt saga, Kobla Woyome clarified that there was no personal feud between them.

“I have never had any problem with Kennedy Agyapong. When you talk about the family’s position, I don’t think we had any issue, except maybe the way and manner he got involved in my senior brother’s matter,” he said.

He admitted that the intervention by the Assin Central MP worsened public sentiment against the Woyome family. “This matter has impacted in a manner that it shouldn’t have,” he said, adding, “But by the grace of God, the truth will be revealed.”

Hon. Woyome’s comments come as the judgment debt issue continues to surface in political discourse years after it first broke, affecting the reputation of individuals and families linked to the high-profile case.
