Speaker

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has established a 7-member committee to probe alleged plot to sack the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in a leaked audio.

This comes after a 50 -minute leaked audio, supposedly featuring some senior police officers engaging in a conversation with a prominent party figure, went viral.

In the leaked audio, the alleged officers labeled the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, as a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The supposed commissioner is heard telling the politician that the IGP is too firm and will not allow machinations in next year’s polls if he is not removed.

He further notes that the nature of security the IGP provided during the Assin North by election shows he will not allow any rigging in the polls.
