More than 2,000 young people in the Ashanti Region have benefited from the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme’s (NEIP) Adwumawura Programme, according to the Ashanti Regional Director of NEIP, Alhaji Moro Gausu Obideaba Jnr.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Atinka News reporter Obofo Michael, Alhaji Obideaba said the first phase of the programme has been successfully implemented, with over 20 per cent of beneficiaries receiving direct financial support to expand their businesses.

According to him, beneficiaries received funding ranging from GH¢5,000 to GH¢60,000, depending on the nature and scale of their business ventures.

He noted that the programme has already begun yielding positive results, with many beneficiaries recording business growth and creating employment opportunities for others.

“Their businesses have improved significantly after the training. Many of them have also been able to employ and train new apprentices, which is helping to reduce unemployment in the region,” he said.

Alhaji Obideaba also announced that Phase II of the Adwumawura Programme for 2026 is now open, with training expected to begin soon.

He encouraged young people interested in entrepreneurship to take advantage of the initiative to acquire practical business skills, mentorship and financial support.

Despite the programme’s success, the Regional Director identified accommodation for trainers as one of its key challenges, explaining that many facilitators travel from distant locations to conduct the training sessions.

The Adwumawura Programme forms part of the government’s broader efforts through NEIP to promote youth entrepreneurship by providing participants with business development training, mentorship and financial assistance to establish and grow sustainable enterprises.
