The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the installation of advanced security screening equipment at Terminals 2 and 3 of Accra International Airport.

The upgrade means passengers will no longer need to remove laptops, shoes, or belts during checks, while liquids under 100ml can remain in cabin bags.

Management says the new system, which includes an Automatic Tray Return System, will speed up processing and improve convenience as it is rolled out in phases.

According to management, the upgrade is designed to enhance aviation security while significantly improving the passenger experience.

With the new system, travellers will no longer need to remove laptops or other large electronic devices from their cabin baggage.

Shoes and belts can also remain on during screening, unless otherwise required.

Passengers will further benefit from relaxed procedures on liquids, aerosols and gels, which can now remain in cabin bags provided they do not exceed 100ml per container.

The installation also comes with an Automatic Tray Return System to speed up processing and reduce congestion at checkpoints.

GACL says migration onto the new system will be phased, running alongside existing procedures until full implementation.

Management has requested the cooperation of passengers and stakeholders as the rollout begins in the coming days.
