The Winneba Divisional Police Command has confirmed that three persons are reported dead following a violent attack in the New Winneba Township today.
At approximately 10:40 AM, an irate mob of about 300 individuals, armed with guns, stones, cutlasses, and sticks, stormed the area. The assailants, reportedly from Gomoa Oguakrom, Gomoa Yenkuadze, and Gomoa Pomadze, attacked the Effutu North District Police Headquarters, vandalized local stores, and raided the residences of natives, causing extensive property damage.

Approximately 15 injured persons have been rushed to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for treatment. Among the wounded is a police officer.
Security forces from the Central Regional Police Command, the Winneba Divisional Headquarters, and the Agona Swedru District Patrols are currently on the ground working to restore order.
To reinforce these efforts, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed additional personnel and two armored vehicles from the National Headquarters to bolster security in the area.
